Banyan Tree-Native of India-Largest Banyan Tree in North America. Planted April 24th, 1873. A gift to the missionaries for their fifty years work in Lahaina. When planted it was only an 81/2 ft. tall sapling, now covers 1 acre.

Iao Valley Iao Valley is an area where King Kamehameha III conquered Maui in a bloody battle in 1790. Drew up Hawaii's first laws and constitution. Lahaina was the capitol until 1842, before Honolulu.

Old Lahaina Harbor Lahaina is where modern Hawaiian history began. In the middle years of the century, whalers came by the thousands to winter in this little port, anchoring their ships offshore.

Carthaginian A replica of a 19th century brig ship, typical of the small, fast freighters that brought the first commerce to the Sandwich Islands. She was
sunk off Lahaina 12/13/2005. Now she serves as a
beautiful reef for Maui's reef fish. She can be
seen on a Atlantis Submarine dive tour.

Old Lahaina Courthouse
Also served as a custom house. Currently used as an information center and art gallery. Here in August of 1898, the Hawaiian flag was lowered and the American flag was raised, marking the formal annexation of the islands by the United States.
